Early season booking restrictions seen
Major van lines imposed early season booking restrictions in some regions of the US reflecting reduced capacity of drivers and trucks and increase in numbers of moves. The four year long recession hitting the real estate and moving industry has taken its toll on capacity. Some say the moving industries capacity has dropped 30% over last year reflecting some agents, drivers and crews getting out of the business.
May proved to be a busy moving month with industry experts saying overall business was up almost 20% with the reduced capacity over last year. At CRS our statistics show a significant greater increase in May over last year at this time. Indications are June will continue the feverish pace.
If you or your clients, members, or customers are planning a move this summer, be sure to call us as soon as possible so we may plan ahead and book the dates they wish to move on. Generally, CRS does not experience significant black out dates for bookings with our national account status, but it is better to be safe than sorry. We have seen some dates full with several van lines this May and are seeing the same thing in June.
Fortunately we have choices of moving partners and can pretty much accommodate our clients and customers needs as far as booking desired dates.
